About the Event
Walk and Shoot
50% of all proceeds will be donated to the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter - there will also be an option at the checkout to provide an additional donation.
Pack your hiking boots for a stroll down the hill with a few mates and a few targets along the way.
Squads of 4 will be dropped off at the top of the mountain, where you will then walk down the hill along a marked trail - note this is an off road trail through the bush so be prepared for ground you will find whilst hunting and to carry your own equipment approx 3.5km.
There will be 2 reduced mobility squads, allowing extra time and a vehicle transport between positions - please note these squads are by request only.
Squads will meet at the range for a safety brief and all non-members of the range must successfully engage a starting target to prove their equipment is sighted in to a hunting standard - note this is not an opportunity to sight-in your rifle, if you or the rifle are not zeroed you will not be able to compete.
18 scoring targets
Only the first shot at each targets scores one point - up to 3 shots per target is permitted
The final hole will be a timed stage with a practical component to serve as a tie breaker.
Target distances will be between 130m and 600m (200m-400m primarily)
Rifles must be smaller and slower than 30cal and 3200fps (eg 300winmag is likely okay depending on ammo velocity).
All rifles must have a licence holder in direct control IAW the Arms Act, competitiors without a licence (eg older kids, partners, friends) may share a rifle with licence holder in their squad but may not carry it between positions.
No tripods or shooting sticks that are not permanently attached to the rifle - if your tripod can mount to the rifle you can take it but it must remain attached the entire time (it will be a hinderance on some stages if you choose to go this route).
Shooting bags, back packs, bipods, normal hunting gear is permitted.
Prize giving will likely be at the local watering hole at 6:30pm
