About Us
Established in 2019 Peak View Range (PVR) is a private shooting facility located 30 minutes north-east of Nelson, specializing in long range target shooting. Our goal is to promote sport shooting in a safe and welcoming environment.

We offer several ways to enter and enjoy the world of target shooting, including:

• Public open days

• Events and competitions

• Courses, where instructors will work with you personally at the level that’s right for you, from Introductory to Intermediate, Advanced, and beyond

• Paid membership program, which grants users unlimited year-round access to the range and all facilities

• Shooting experiences – just want to shoot guns but not interested in a course? We have a selection of different firearms available for individually tailored experiences.

• Large group / Corporate events are now available.

• All ages and experience levels welcome

 

Please note: NO VISITORS without a booking or prior arrangement (except open days). Due to our safety obligations as a live-fire shooting range we cannot allow members of the public to enter unannounced. Non-members must arrange to meet a Range Safety Officer for their visit or risk being escorted from the area.

 

Facilities
In addition to over 55 centrefire-rated steel targets at ranges from 100 to 725 meters, PVR is also home to the only 500m .50cal range in the upper South Island.

We have a selection of 22lr rimfire and subsonic centrefire rated targets between 10-100m, as well as boards for paper targets at 34m, 50m and 100m.

• To deconflict safety requirements with the other business' that operate on the property - the Range is 'Hot 24/7' from 0-275m and this is referred to as 'Range 1 Restricted' which in principle is available 24/7 to facilitate members and pest culling within the forestry - for those with our forestry permits (all members after the safety brief), you are welcome to cull all cats,  possums, stoats on sight 24/7, goat and pig culling is coordinated via the Discord Chat.

• Our normal Business operating hours for Range 1 Unrestricted (to 725m) is 6am to 10pm when available - but check the booking options as it is a live calendar system.

Got something that isn’t a rifle?

• Shotguns welcome, for environmental reasons we prefer Fiber-wads and leadshot (steelshot and plastic-wads can be used but not in the direction of the pine trees and collection of plastic-wads is appreciated).

• Solar powered clay launcher available to all members.

Shoot from the enclosed bench-rest area, or from the variety of obstacles on the firing line.
PVR has a 30m firing line, allowing us to run events and group bookings with many people actively shooting at one time.

For those not currently engaged in shooting we have a refreshments area with hot and cold beverages, and a firepit area with seating and BBQ. All facilities are welcome to be enjoyed by members and customers, with the firepit and BBQ by arrangement. Alcohol is allowed ONLY in the BBQ area and only after your shooting has officially concluded for the day.
