Peak View Range (Range 1)

Service Description

While we will do everything possible to ensure a fun and instructive experience, the child’s legal guardian is responsible for the child’s safety and comfort while on-site. PVR is a live-fire shooting range and we cannot guarantee constant supervision of your child. Consider a Level 1 Experience for yourself. A Range Safety Officer (RSO) will always remain within reach of the firearm while your child is shooting, but while your child is not at the bench the RSO may have their attention drawn elsewhere. It is also possible that other paying range users will be present and using loud firearms during your visit – while a selection of hearing protection is provided, there is no guarantee that our earplugs or earmuffs will fit very young children - Visit Bunnings/M10 to get some smaller ones that fit. If you have any questions regarding your child’s suitability for this lesson, please reach out and we will be happy to discuss solutions. Similar to the Level 1 course, this lesson features less theory and more visual demonstration to make it easy for kids to pick up, using youth-style rifles to make it easy for younger children to adequately handle the firearm. 1 – 1.5hrs of target shooting, during which our instructor will coach your child on the proper use of bolt action and semi-automatic 22lr rifles. Instruction will cover: ⦁ 7 Rules of Firearms Safety ⦁ Trigger discipline and control ⦁ Head position and sight picture ⦁ Breathing techniques ⦁ Loading / Unloading (bolt action and semi-auto) ⦁ Recoil management (learn good post-shot habits early) Instruction technique is one-on-one and tailored to each shooter. Our goal is to provide a positive shooting experience that is fun and rewarding on its own, but also gives your child useful knowledge and practical skills to take forward. 100 rounds of 22lr ammunition are included in the course fee, with more available for purchase if desired (EFTPOS available). Several 22lr rifles are available to choose between, but you are welcome to bring your own if you already have a license. An RSO will remain on-site for as long as you wish to remain shooting, with additional experience-ammo available to purchase via cash or eftpos. Complimentary tea and coffee available in the refreshment area. Non-participating group members are welcome to observe. If your child has previous experience shooting then consider a Level 1 or 2 lesson, which fit into our course structure for ongoing sport-shooting development.
